Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Doorman. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Doorman.

1. Service Description

Doorman is an AI-powered guest concierge platform for short-term rental hosts. Hosts upload property information — such as check-in instructions, house rules, and local recommendations — to build a knowledge base. Guests interact with the AI via a web-based chat interface accessed through a property-specific QR code or link. No guest account is required.

Doorman is provided by Doorman Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). The service includes the host dashboard, AI chat interface, escalation tools, and any related features made available through trydoorman.com.

2. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at hello@doorman.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of all content you upload or enter into the Doorman knowledge base, including property descriptions, check-in instructions, house rules, and any other information provided to guests. You represent that you have the right to share this information and that it is truthful and not misleading.

You must not share your account with others or allow third parties to access the service through your credentials.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Doorman to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or deceptive information about any property
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Harass, deceive, or harm guests or other users
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security features of the service
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce the service or its content without permission
  • Use the service to send unsolicited communications or spam
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or any software intended to damage or interfere with the service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

4. AI Disclaimer

Doorman's AI responses are generated based on the property information you provide in your knowledge base. The AI is designed to answer guest questions accurately, but it is not infallible.

AI responses may occasionally be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date — particularly if your knowledge base has not been kept current. You remain responsible for ensuring guests receive correct information, especially for time-sensitive matters such as check-in procedures, access codes, or safety instructions.

Doorman is not a substitute for professional advice, emergency services, or direct host communication. For urgent or life-threatening situations, guests should always contact emergency services directly (911 in the US). Doorman will direct guests to call 911 in such situations, but this does not constitute professional emergency guidance.

Doorman uses automated sentiment analysis to identify potentially urgent guest messages and escalate them to the host. This system is designed to assist you but does not guarantee that every urgent situation will be detected or escalated correctly.

5. Subscription and Billing

Doorman is a paid subscription service. Pricing, plan features, and property limits are described on our pricing page. We offer a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

After the trial period, a valid payment method is required to continue using the service. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select. Billing is handled securely by Stripe.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to change our pricing with at least 30 days advance notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.

6. Data and Content Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you upload or create within Doorman, including property descriptions, knowledge base entries, and any other materials you provide.

By uploading content to Doorman, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and use that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and your guests. We do not sell your content to third parties or use it to train AI models beyond the scope of providing the Doorman service.

Guest conversation data is processed to power AI responses, perform sentiment analysis, and generate escalation alerts. Guest data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

Doorman is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Doorman Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including damages resulting from AI inaccuracy, missed escalations, delayed notifications, or service interruptions.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate the service relationship at any time. You may close your account through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@doorman.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if continuing to provide the service would expose us or others to legal or security risk.

Upon account closure, your property content and guest data will be retained for up to 30 days to allow for data export requests, after which it will be permanently deleted.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the service, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the service after the effective date of the updated terms constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
